Lake Victoria, Alexandria MN

September 2, 2018

August 10, 2018

Tried the slow death rig again this morning, but on Lake Geneva.  No takers.

Went bass fishing.  Caught three scrappy bass right away on a Rapala Skitter Walk.

Then went to Lake Victoria.  My family used to go there all the time when I was a teenager and had some fabulous days bass fishing.  The channel connecting the lakes, specifically the bridges, have been vastly approved over the years.  Back in the day you had to duck down in the boat and guide yourself through the culvert with your hands.  The new bridges are easily passable for most fishing boats.

The water was a little green on Victoria and it took a few minutes fishing an underwater point before I got any action, again on the Skitter Walk.  Caught three fish and then noticed a splash in the shallows near the bank.  Headed within casting distance and plunked my cast in that spot and ka pow – caught this nice bass.

Caught a few more and missed some as well, but things really slowed down after about 8 a.m.  Got my oldest daughter in the boat again and we had to really work to catch a couple of small bass on KVD crank baits.

The only fish of significance after that was a 17″ bass that my son caught on a shad rap in dusk as we tootled around an underwater hump on Lake Geneva.
