Diabolical

The placement of the spark plug wires and latches on my 1990 Evinrude is diabolical in that there is a high degree of probability that the latch will catch a wire and detach it anytime the cover is removed and replaced.

I had the boat in the shop on Tuesday to get the bendix unstuck and so I took it to Bryant Lake for a test run.  The moment I started it up I knew right away:  spark plug wire detached.  Thank goodness for a calm night and a trolling motor.  Caught two northern pike and had three other pike strike and miss in about an hour and a half on the water.

Eagle Creek.  It is interesting to see how a stream changes over time.  A couple new blow downs have altered the flow in spots, while other promising spots are cleared out.  No fish but did have a little one take a swipe at a streamer.

When I returned home from the Vermillion River my wife asked how fishing was and I simply said “diabolical.”

Given my recent success on the Vermillion, I was optimistic that I had it somewhat figured out.

Wrong.

Despite the cloudy conditions, I managed nary a fish.  Not even a strike.

No fish.  No beer.
