2016 Bass Opener

May 29, 2016

May 28, 2016

4:50 a.m. – Lake Minnetonka.  Could not have asked for a better day. Overcast.  Mild temps.  Light Breeze.  No one at the access.

Dreams Launched

Cloudy and gloomy

I am the only one here

My dream is launched

Started out in Maxwell Bay.  Caught one bass and a small pike.  Tried Crystal Bay with one small pike coming to hand.  Surface water temp – 68/69 degrees.  Big Island – Surface water temp 65/66 degrees.  Caught four small largemouth bass (3 off of one dock) and two more northerns but that was it – gin clear water.  Headed to West Arm Bay where the water is more green and caught 8 more fish on the inside edge of the milfoil on a white spinner bait.

All in all a pretty good day to be on the water.  No biggies.  Span is probably over and small males, mostly what I caught, are guarding nests.
