Fishing in the rain

July 6, 2014

Awoke to a steady rain and decided to try Lotus Lake.  Located in Chanhassen, MN, I’ve  fished Lotus twice, once for spring crappies and once for bass, decades ago.  A small lake, with good access, and plenty of pads, weeds and docks. Fishing has been pretty good on Bavaria but I thought I should mix things up a bit and keep it fresh.

Despite this one dandy largemouth that I caught on a spinner bait, I should have gone to Bavaria.  I tried a jig worm, pig n jig, swim jig, crank baits, top waters, the slop, an underwater hump and hole, and this was the only fish I could manage.  For whatever reason it just wasn’t happening.  With the steady rain and variable breeze I really thought they’d be biting.  Oh, well.  Next time.
