Beauty and the Beast

Last Sunday, hoping that the warmer weather and abundant rains might turn on the crappie bite, I headed for Lake Parley for a spot that showed some promise last year.

Here in Minnesota we are blessed with an abundance of lakes and parks.  The Three Rivers Parks District does a magnificent job maintaining their parks and paths, one of which leads to Lake Parley.  Donning my trusty waders I tossed my trusted crappie rig and came up mostly empty handed except for these photos of:

Beauty – A spring violet (Viola Pedata)

The Beast (Actually, the photo of this bullhead carcass reminds me of Pumbaa, the Warthog in the Lion King)

Plus, the first bass of the season (caught unintentionally and promptly released since the bass fishing season hasn’t opened in MN yet).
