Sprecher Brewery

November 30, 2012

October 11, 2012

Since I was in Milwaukee, the home of the Brewers, I found it necessary to stop at Sprecher Brewery on my way out of town.  I have had Sprecher Root Beer on more than one occasion and thought it would be kind of cool to check out the brewery.

Starting promptly at 4 p.m., $5 dollars grants you access to the brewery tour & 4 8 oz. samples of what is on tap, a tasting glass, and unlimited samples of their pop.  The guided tour is very informative and provides an up close look at their brewing process, bottling line and warehouse. The variety and volume of beer on hand was amazing.  All that is nice of course, but the real reason we were there was the beer.

Next up, the beer garden.  I had read a recent article about Sprecher’s award winning Oktoberfest Beer and since I like Oktoberfest beers in general, I thought I’d save that for last.  I started off with the Special Amber, a German-Lager and their top seller.  After a long day of listening to power point presentations it hit the spot. Yum.  Next up, the Black Bavarian. A dark beer with a thick foamy head, this too was well done and very drinkable.  Apparently this beer was the inspiration for Randy Sprecher and is one of his original brews.

Oktoberfest empty – The glass says it all.

The Oktoberfest was excellent.  It is worthy of all its accolades.

On my way out I loaded up with Soda for the kids (Root Beer, Orange, Cherry and Blueberry).  Black Bavarian, Oktoberfest and Hefe Weizen for the man of the house.

Great beer.  Great tour.  $5 well spent.

Glad to hear it was a good time! I haven’t made it there yet, but love their beer.
