Milwaukee Brat House

Hungry and thirsty after a long day in the boat, I stopped by the Milwaukee Brat House for some nourishment.  With all the charm of an old time, historic, neighborhood bar, I sat at the bar and ordered a Franziskaner Weiss Bier.  Brewed to comply with the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516, it tasted even better than it looked.  Savoring another taste, it wasn’t long before dinner, an Unsinger’s Polish Sausage, covered with fried onions, and stuffed in a pretzel bun, arrived.  Adding a little bit of mustard, I dove in and took a bite. With greasy goodness in every bite the sausage was delicious.  The combined spiciness and tang of the sausage and mustard was offset pleasantly by the sweetness of the onions.

I should also mention the enormous portion of French fries, dusted just with right amount of grated Parmesan cheese and salt.  My first thought was – wow, that is a lot of fries.  Good thing they were generous on the fries because I had no problem finishing them off.

What made the trip to the Milwaukee Brat House even more memorable though was the Secret Stadium Sauce.  What is Secret Stadium Sauce you ask?  I asked myself the same thing and squirted a puddle on the wax paper to test with a French fry.  Yum!  Googling it, I learned that Secret Stadium Sauce is a popular condiment on hot dogs and brats at Miller Park (home of the Brewers). Not quite ketchup and not quite BBQ sauce, it has a unique flavor and zest that tasted great on the fries.

If you get a chance to go to Milwaukee and are looking for an authentic beer hall and something unique to the region, make sure to give the Milwaukee Brat House a shot – I highly recommend it.
